The BODY SHOP – Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter review

The Sumptuous Camomile Cleansing Butter is a balm that removes all make-up, including eye make-up.bodyshopcamomilecleanser

What it does, according to the brand: “Cleanse and nourish your skin with our rich cleansing butter. A luxurious way to remove every last trace of make-up, while purifying, cleansing and refreshing your skin, leaving it soft to the touch.

  • Suitable for sensitive skin and contact lens wearers
  • Camomile extract from Norfolk, England
  • Clean and silky-soft feel
  • Removes all types of make-up”

My experience: I am trying this as part as my adventures into cleansers, because now that I am a vegan, I should really give up my favourite Omorovicza cleanser (beeswax in the recipe).

The texture is actually a bit similar to the much missed above-mentioned. A bit less waxy perhaps, a little easier to melt into the skin. It smells nice, but a probably a bit too much to be true. It rings all sorts of alarm bells when a product smells that obviously of an ingredient. Natural ingredients don’t smell that much. You can feel the fragrance boost in your nostrils.

It does clean well with the face cloth and is indeed gentle enough to remove softly my eye make-up without irritating or drying my eyes. I have to keep them shut otherwise it stings, but once the product is rinsed off there is no irritation.

My skin afterwards feels soft and looks calm.

With my oily skin, this is too rich for my morning routine but lovely in the evening, especially when I am in the bath, massaging it into my face in the steam rising from the tub.

The tin is pretty and plastic-free, so that is definitely a plus.

Good sides:

  • Not irritating
  • Leaves the skin soft
  • Removes make-up efficiently
  • Very well tolerated by my sensitive (frankly tantrumy) skin

Bad sides:

  • Smells a tad artificial
  • Parent company sells in China

Will I repurchase? I think so
