The Cruelty-free Beauty Box subscription – February 2020

Years ago I used to subscribe to a beauty box and I loved receiving the treats once a month. The company I was using didn’t want to customise though, so I was receiving products that were sold in China, which means tested on animals. I had to stop my subscription. As I was looking for plastic-free skincare in January, I found this box: It is all vegan, cruelty-free and you can opt for plastic-free too. You can choose the only skincare option or you can include make-up. You can even add snacks in the Deluxe version.

First impression

Ordering the box was a lovely experience. The customisation is comprehensive, from how many products to what type and even your favourite colour palettes, so you don’t end up with a bright purple lipstick if you prefer nude schemes. You can say if you prefer to shower or bathe or both, what type of hair you have and the colour of your eyebrows. I opted for the mini box, all plastic-free, with only skincare as I don’t wear much make-up. As the box happens every 2 months, the current £22.95 doesn’t break the bank either.

Receiving the box

I received my first box today, the February 2020 edition. All the packaging is eco-friendly and I thought the seeded product card was a really nice touch. Once you have gathered all the info you need about the products, you can plant the card and it will make flowers. Bee-friendly ones. In fact I liked finding this in the box so much, I am going to pass the idea on and print my art course dates leaflets on seeded paper too.

This month’s mini box contained 4 products: a toothpaste in a glass jar, a bath and body oil, a cream deodorant and a solid cubed night cream that smells lovely. I will review all these separately.

In conclusion

I am very pleased with my subscription box and it is great to have this pleasure restored in a cruelty-free manner. Also, they plant trees, they donate to nature and animal charities and the customer service so far has been friendly, efficient and more personal than most online retailers. It is a also really good for this blog as I will get to review products I might not have bought otherwise.

Will I repurchase? Yes
