“This soft Evolve Beauty Tropical Blossom Body Butter contains nourishing organic shea butter (the skin superfood extracted from the nuts of the Shea tree, a strong moisturiser that has skin healing properties due to its richness in unsaturated fats, essential fatty acids, Vitamin E and D and provitamin A) and natural Tahitian coconut Monoi macerated in exotic blossoms of Gardenia, which has restorative and anti-oxidant properties. Leaves skin smooth, soft and fragranced with exotic natural hibiscus.”

My experience:

What attracted me to this balm in the first place was the Monoi. I just love that smell. For years I have been using a Monoi shower gel but it comes in a plastic bottle so I am trying to find other Monoi products to get my fix.

This balm has the typical heavy, slightly greasy, waxy, thick and rich texture of a balm. If you like more watery and more easily absorbed creams, you might find this one too much work to really get it into the skin and you might not like the way the skin feels after application. It does take time and a bit of effort to apply. It also takes a while to absorb so no touching anything like your glasses or your laptop keyboard (ooops) for a little while. Just relax, do nothing at all, and enjoy the fragrance, which is divine.

The jar is tinted glass, meaning minimal plastic, plus UV protection to keep the ingredients active and protect their shelf-life. The lid is plastic though, so this is not all plastic-free.

I prefer to use this in the evening, relaxing after a day’s work. Have a hot bath, put some PJs on, bring on Netflix and start slapping on the balm!

Good sides:

• Good moisturiser thanks to the Shea butter
• Leaves skin soft
• Gorgeous smell
• Tinted glass jar

Bad sides:

• Contains a few additives
• The lid is plastic

Would I repurchase? Yes
