Dr BRONNER Peppermint Bar soap – Review

I really like Peppermint shower products when I shower at the gym post workout. I like the way it soothes the muscles and invigorates the skin and also the fact that it helps clear the sinuses after a swim.

BVS bronner mint soap front wrap

What it does, according to the brand: Our most popular scent & with a peppermint burst so pure it tingles! Scented with organic peppermint oil to cool skin, clear sinuses and sharpen mind. Our Peppermint Pure-Castile Bar Soap is made with certified fair trade ingredients and organic hemp oil for a soft, smooth lather that won’t dry your skin. 100% biodegradable in a 100% post-consumer recycled wrapper.”

This is a translation of the text on the wrapping: “In everything we do, let us be generous, fair and loving towards planet Earth and her inhabitants. Because we are all one or nothing. All united!”

BVS bronner mint soap soap

My experience: I used this soap for the first time today, after Aquagym. The smell is lovely, pure mint. The lather is both abundant and very soft on the skin. At first I didn’t really feel the advertised tingle, which was disappointing. Then I reached some more sensitive areas and it definitely tingled there! It even turned into an almost burning feeling so I promptly rinsed off the soap. The feeling continued for a few minutes but there was no adverse effect afterwards, just feeling rather fresh all over. I will leave it to personal tastes to decide if you would enjoy that 😀

I was still disappointed about the lack of peppermint effect on my muscles until I came out of the shower. Then the cooler air of the changing room hit me and this is when the tingling started all over. In spite of the fact that I had rinsed the soap off, exfoliated and moisturised in the shower, it still worked. As I am writing this a couple of hours later I can still feel the freshness on my feet and legs. It feels really nice.

I would not recommend this as an evening soap as it is definitely invigorating. But as a morning and/or post workout soap, I really liked it. This is definitely staying in my washbag. One small detail that wasn’t quite right: the soap is slightly too big to fit in my regular soap box. I had to shave some off the sides. It will be fine after a couple of uses.

Good sides:

  • Plastic-free
  • Lathers well
  • Very soft on the skin
  • Lovely tingling fresh effect afterwards
  • No SLS
  • GMO free
  • No artificial colour
  • No artificial fragrance
  • Not expensive
  • Great philosophy

Bad sides:

  • A bit too big for a regular soap box

Would I repurchase? Yes
